Leeds United’s U23 side won the Professional Development League North title with two matches to spare following their 2-0 win against their Colchester United counterparts on Monday night, and Whites fans expect their successful manager Carlos Corberan to one day follow in Marcelo Bielsa’s footsteps at Elland Road.
The Yorkshire outfit’s youngsters went into the clash at the Jobserve Community Stadium knowing that three points would be enough, and that is exactly what they got thanks to a brace from in-form striker Ryan Edmondson.
It has certainly been a big turnaround under the Spaniard and Victor Orta with plenty of young additions in recent times shining alongside youth graduates such as Jack Clarke, and much of the credit has to go to Corberan for his work.
It is something that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Leeds faithful, and while many that had their say on the 35-year-old following the latest success think he will manage the Championship club in the future, some went a step further and believe he could even replace Bielsa when the Argentine eventually leaves.
